Web App Development Automation Intern

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is looking for an innovative, tech-savvy summer Web App Development Automation Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage AI to transform development workflows across both web and mobile applications.

The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about AI applications in web and mobile app development automation. This hands-on experience at Zymo Research will not only bolster the intern's expertise in AI and task automation but also contribute to the wider scientific community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Investigate cutting‑edge AI technologies and tools designed to automate both web and mobile app development processes—including code generation, content creation, and design element production.
• Analyze and compare solutions that support the development workflow across web and mobile platforms.

• Develop and implement AI-driven solutions, such as deploying multiple intelligent agents to streamline tasks from design through deployment on both web and mobile projects.
• Collaborate with team members to integrate these solutions into existing workflows.

• Create and maintain automation scripts for testing, continuous integration, and deployment, thereby boosting the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of web and mobile applications.
• Identify and propose areas for process improvement and increased automation in the development lifecycle.

Education and Experience:

• Currently pursuing or holding a BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. Recent graduates or students (junior or senior standing) from accredited universities are encouraged to apply.

• Proficient in programming languages relevant to web and mobile development, such as JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React or Angular; familiarity with native mobile technologies (e.g., Swift, Kotlin) or cross‑platform frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter) is a plus.
• Experience with AI concepts and hands‑on familiarity with platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, with a focus on their application in code automation.

• Solid understanding of web servers, mobile backend services, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and API development, along with experience in RESTful services and agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot development challenges and integrate AI solutions effectively.
• A keen interest in staying up to date with the latest trends in AI, web/mobile development technologies, and automation tools.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
