Specimen Accessioner/Clinical Lab Technician (Entry-Level)

Job Summary:
Pangea Laboratory seeks a dynamic individual to become an integral part of our Laboratory Operations team! In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with CLIA/CAP standards. Your responsibilities will include receiving and entering specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), verifying proper labeling and documentation, and addressing client inquiries or discrepancies. Assisting with basic lab tasks such as specimen preparation and processing under supervision and supporting a clean and safe work environment by routinely disinfecting lab areas, equipment, and shared spaces, and keeping maintenance and cleaning logs up to date.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and accurately enter all incoming specimens into the LIS while ensuring proper labeling and accompanying documentation for all specimens.
- Notify relevant clients of any discrepancies or issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Properly label and organize specimens for testing.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and providers via phone, email, or portal and escalate issues as needed.
- Provide updates on the shipment of collection kits, as well as specimen status and test results as requested.
- Assist with basic lab duties such as specimen preparation, processing and routine tasks under supervision.
- Clean and disinfect lab workspaces, equipment, and common areas and help maintain maintenance and cleaning logs.
- Monitor inventory and restock lab supplies as necessary.
- Assist with waste disposal, including biohazard materials, according to safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- We do not require prior technical experience, but we seek an individual who is generally technology savvy and has a strong interest in learning and mastering the LIS.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a lab, healthcare, or client-facing role is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage responsibilities across departments.
- Familiarity with lab safety standards.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 to $24 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
