Research Intern_Epigenetics NGS

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is seeking a highly motivated Research Intern to join our dynamic Epigenetics team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in exploring cutting-edge technologies in the field of Next Generation Sequencing.

As a Research Intern, you will be mentored by a peer from our Epigenetics R&D group. You will be responsible for initiating and completing an assigned capstone project throughout the duration of the internship. In this role, you will work collaboratively with other team members to design and execute proof-of-principle studies.

The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about next-generation sequencing technology and analysis. The successful candidate should also have experience in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Independently conduct scientific experiments for product development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization.
• Perform nucleic acid purification, PCR, qPCR, and other experiments as assigned.
• Assist with data collection and data interpretation.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation.
• Review, summarize, and apply relevant literature and technical documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education (or working towards a degree) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• To be eligible for this position, you must have completed your sophomore year at an accredited college or university.
• Comfortable with lab research and lab surroundings.
• Ability to work 15-20 hours/week.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 in related classes.
• Basic laboratory skills and knowledge, including laboratory safety and proper handling of biological materials.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20/hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
