Job Summary:
Zymo Research is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our protein R&D team. The qualified individual will lead and execute R&D projects for product development, optimization, and quality control. As part of the Protein R&D team, you will leverage your skills and familiarity with a range of machine learning frameworks and AI models, as well as data analysis expertise, to efficiently manage and develop innovative protein products.
The position is part-time or full-time and a fully onsite role based in our Zymo Research facility in Tustin, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and conduct scientific experiments for product development, performance troubleshooting, and protocol optimization.
- Analyze and interpret data to obtain insights into project progress.
- Provide recommendations to the team leader on the next steps of the assigned projects.
- Keep current with literature pertaining to the project and apply relevant findings to ongoing research projects.
- Collaborate with other R&D team members to further multifaceted projects.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work closely with internal subject matter experts, product managers, application, marketing, and manufacturing on technical details.
- Project presentation to upper-level management, technical review committee, marketing, and sales organization.
Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with Python-based machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, Scikit-learn, and Hugging Face.
- Experience with cutting-edge protein language models such as Alphafold, RFdiffusion, ProteinMPNN, and other advanced neural network architectures.
- Experience and understanding of computational assessment of protein/antibody developability attributes is a plus.
- A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, troubleshooting and debugging code.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
