Job Summary:
Zymo Research partnered with Burst Diagnostics is seeking a collaborative Research Assistant Intern to join a fast-paced research team focused on developing the next generation of at-home diagnostics. This is a full-time position that reports to the Diagnostic Platform Lead, however we may consider a part-time position for the right candidate.
The individual will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for a variety of laboratory management and bench-top activities including running experiments in collaboration with team scientists and engineers. The ideal candidate will work well within a team, will be a fast learner, and will have the capacity to quickly adapt to company priorities.
The work will involve immunoassay development, immunoassay optimization, device fabrication, clinical testing, and validation testing and is expected to advance projects towards commercial launch and yield high quality patents and peer-reviewed publications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other team members to complete milestones and achieve deliverables.
- Work with team scientists to design and interpret experiments.
- Maintain a properly documented and updated laboratory notebook.
- Analyze data, and prepare figures for presentations, scientific reports, and publications.
- Contribute directly to a positive company culture and the team’s success.
- Lab management activities including ordering supplies, performing safety tests, organizing
- waste removal and in general, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
- Experience in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or other related field.
- relevant laboratory environment.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to properly
- document data and present at team meetings.
- Experience with microfluidics and laser cutting are desirable.
- A strong sense of urgency and the ability to learn quickly.
- Good time management, record keeping and task prioritization skills.
- Prior experience with product development or immunoassays is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with ELISAs and/or PCR desired.
- Prior experience in analytical development is highly desirable.
Education:
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline.

Compensation:
The estimated base compensation range for this position is $18-$20 per hour at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
