The Omics Discovery Grant provides scientists with innovative and accessible tools to propel their research. With the unique RiboFree® universal rRNA depletion technology at its core, this grant enables researchers to explore the transcriptome of any organism through Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based RNA analysis.
Grant Details
Up to ten research proposals will be awarded the Omics Discovery Grant. This prize includes a Zymo-Seq RiboFree Total RNA Library Kit, sequencing, bioinformatic analysis, along with an additional $2,000 credit that can be applied toward any of the RNA-Seq sample prep technologies as part of the complete workflow below:

Illumina platform paired-end sequencing with 30 million reads per library (read length ≥ 100 bp)
Bioinformatics
RNA-Seq data analysis using the Aladdin Bioinformatics Platform, a non-profit partner of Zymo Research

Eligibility and Requirements
- Entries must be completed and written in English. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
- The proposed project must be an original work. We encourage innovative research ideas that push the boundaries of transcriptomics.
- Applicants must acknowledge and cite the grant and any Zymo Research products or services awarded. Awardees should be willing to share their research with the Zymo Research community and the broader scientific community.
- Awardees have two years from the award date to redeem their prize, allowing ample time for planning and execution.
Deadline
- Proposals are due August 30th, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT
- Applicants will receive a notice on the status of their application by September 20th, 2024
Selection Process
- All submissions will be reviewed by the Zymo Research's Omics Discovery Grant Committee.
- Proposals will be considered based on how well the entry reflects scientific innovation, potential social impact, exemplifies the mission of the Omics Discovery Grant, and the values Zymo Research represents.
