Job Summary:

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our R&D team working on nucleic acids research! In this role, you will play a vital part in optimizing workflows to efficiently extract nucleic acids from various samples using novel, proprietary chemistry, utilizing your skills and expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of high-quality results to scientific communities relying on dependable tools that Zymo Research provides.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare reagents, buffers, and media for experiments.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.

- Help optimize protocols or establish new methods under supervision.

- Perform DNA/RNA extractionsassess and quantify outputs using appropriate assays.

- Handle, process, and store biological specimens, including but not limited to plasma and urine.

- Conduct routine assays such as PCR, TapeStation and Qubit analysis, gel electrophoresis.

- Record experimental results accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems.

- Perform basic data analysis, prepare reports, and suggest future experiments based on the results obtained.

- Participate in team meetings to discuss progress and troubleshoot experiments.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Assist scientists and senior team members with research projects.

- Adhere to company quality standards and regulatory requirements.

- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

- Technical support for incoming customer inquiries.

- Present research findings to technical review committee, marketing, and sales organization.

Education and Experience:

- BS or MS in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or related fields.

2-3 years of laboratory experience, ideally involving PCR, RT-qPCR, and DNA/RNA extractions.

Key Competencies:

- Good background knowledge in the field of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.

- Proficiency in techniques such PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA and RNA extraction.

- Good practice in handling, processing, and storing biological samples such plasma, blood, urine, cell cultures, etc.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $64,480-$70,000 annually at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of the offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
