Staff Accountant 

Job Summary:

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Finance team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
•    Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
•    Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and reconciling customer and vendor accounts.
•    Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing analysis and insights to support financial planning and decision-making.
•    Audit Support: Prepare documentation and provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
•    Reconciliation: Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
•    Expense Management: Monitor and analyze expenses to ensure they are in line with budgeted amounts, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
•    Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.

Education and Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. 
•    Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar accounting role, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
•    Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
•    Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
•    Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
•    Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Compensation:

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $67,000- $80,000 annually at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
