Q4: How does SafeCollect work?
The SafeCollect design seals the stabilizing reagent behind a pierceable safety seal. The tube prevents spillage or user contact during the use of the device, only releasing the reagent when the tube is capped.
Q5: Is the SafeCollect device compatible with my downstream molecular process?
The SafeCollect devices are filled with DNA/RNA Shield, which is compatible with most commercially available DNA/RNA extraction/analysis workflows. DNA/RNA Shield is an Inactivating Transport Medium (ITM) and a recipient of a 510(k). Q6: Is DNA/RNA ShieldTM compatible with bleach (sodium hypochlorite)?
Avoid mixing the reagent and bleach (sodium hypochlorite) or other strong oxidizing agents and acids. Clean up any accidental spills with water first.
Q7: Can I still use DNA/RNA Shield if a precipitate has formed?
This can happen on occasion due to transport or storage at lower temperatures. The reagent functionality is not affected; however, the precipitate can be resolved by heating the reagent to >37 °C.
