IRVINE, Calif., (June 12, 2024) Zymo Research Corp. has unveiled the latest in its line of innovative microbiome standards, the ZymoBIOMICS Oral Microbiome Standard. This marks a significant addition to the field of microbiomics, allowing users to benchmark oral microbiome workflows against a precisely quantified control composed of site-specific organisms.

Designed with extensive data sourced from real human oral microbiome samples, along with aggregate data from the Human Oral Microbiome Database, the ZymoBIOMICS Oral Microbiome Standard closely mimics a true human oral microbiome. It comprises cells from 10 commensal and 2 pathogenic bacteria, selected to mirror real life samples while also representing a while range of lysis difficulties and genomic G/C content. Furthermore, it includes four species of Streptococcus bacteria, strategically chosen to challenge species-level resolution in bioinformatic analysis, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of microbial profiling capabilities.
